Signature - seek the heart

Here is another small tutorial from me. From now on, I plan to always include the text as a PSD so that beginners can more easily understand how I add text to my graphics. :)

What we need:

Step 01

First, we create a new document with the size 450x220px and add Texture 01.

Step 02

This texture should be black and white, so we add a black & white adjustment layer above it. (Image -> Adjustments -> Black & White)

Step 03

Now we take Texture 02, place it roughly in the center of the graphic, and set the blending mode to Divide at 100% opacity.

Step 04

Now we take Texture 03 and set the blending mode to Lighter Color at 100% opacity.

Step 05

Now we add the first image of Jinshi. You can use a black and white version if you like. Place it on the left side and add Texture 04 with Multiply (Invert) slightly over the Jinshi image, so it partially covers the side.

Step 06

Now we add the second Jinshi image, placing it slightly above the white cloud from the previous texture. Duplicate the Jinshi layer, move the duplicate below the original, and fill it with a purple tone. (Right-click on the layer -> Blending Options) Then move it slightly to the right to create a shadow. Alternatively, you can add a drop shadow using Blending Options.

Step 07

Now we take the beautiful Chinese-style lanterns and place them at the top of the graphic to make them look like they are hanging down.

Step 08

Now we add Texture 05 and set it to Soft Light at 100% opacity.

Step 09

Next, we add Texture 06, again setting it to Soft Light at 100% opacity. Here, I used a layer mask to remove parts of the texture from Jinshi’s face.

Step 10

I have provided the text as a PSD again so you don’t have to write it yourself (but of course, you still can! ♥). Simply place it onto your graphic, but make sure to download the fonts if you don’t already have them installed. ♠

Step 11

Finally, we apply the coloring and add Texture 07 (Linear Dodge (Add) at 10% opacity). If desired, you can also add a vibrance adjustment layer.

Final Result

This brings us to the end of the tutorial. Feel free to add as much Topaz as you like.

Bonus

I have also included a small, special black and white PSD file that you can use if you want to add a unique touch to your graphic.
